The internal armed conflict in Iraq has escalated since January 2014, displacing over 2.2 million people and prompted a protection crisis impacting millions of Iraqis. In addition, Iraq is host to approximately 0.2 million refugees from Syria who are seeking refuge from the conflict in Syria, mainly in the Kurdistan region. In total, approximately 5.2 million people in Iraq are thought to be in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.
The need for life-saving emergency assistance continues to grow. Humanitarian Response Network of Canada members are responding to the crisis with the support of the Government of Canada.
